WASTE MANAGEMENT



WASTE MANAGEMENT

By definition, waste management is the collection, transport, processing, recycling or disposal, and monitoring of waste materials produced by human activities. Waste management can involve solid, liquid, gaseous or radioactive substances. Waste management practices differ for developed and developing nations, for urban and rural areas and, for residential and industrial producers.


TECHNOLOGY

The industry of waste management had been slowly adapting technologies such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags, GPS and other integrated software that enabled better quality of data collection without the aid of estimation or manual entry.



WASTE HIERARCHY

This concept refers to the 3 Rs, which are reduce, reuse and recycle; a prominent strategy of waste management. In Europe, the hierarchy has 5 steps; having the first 3 with the addition of recovery and disposal. The aim of the hierarchy is to encourage the management of waste to reduce the production of waste materials, helps and encourages people to prevent waste production, reusing them, and then make a value recovery through recycling and compositing.

WHAT IS?


The advance of human development, both technologically and socially have led to the increase of garbage. Wastes and garbage of different composition have been directly linked to industrial development and innovation.

Household garbage is waste which is generated in the day to day operations of a household. It can include everything from food scraps to burn out light bulbs. A busy household can generate a great deal of waste, and the amount can increase radically in developed nations which rely heavily on packaging for a wide variety of products.


But first, we will talk about recycling in general.
